An audit can uncover key insights on how to improve your rankings and also set up your short and long-term SEO strategy. Because Google changes their algorithm constantly it’s important to do an audit on a consistent basis to stay ahead of current trends. I’ve seen sites lose ranking suddenly after a sudden algorithmic change with no clear explanation until I’ve conducted an SEO audit. Once I do so it’s clear as day what needs to be done to get them back to where they need to be.
So, what do I look at during my SEO audits?

Technical SEO
Technical SEO is anything that has to do with your website that involves code changes to improve the usability of your website. For example, Google now counts page speed (both mobile and desktop) as ranking factors – If your website is too slow you’ll rank lower than your competition. Google is also pushing every website towards a more secure internet so they also apply a rankings boost when you transition to “https” by installing an SSL certificate.
Sometimes it’s not as clear-cut as that and I have to really dig into your website structure to understand what’s going on from a technical level to improve it.
On-Page SEO
Once you’ve gathered the right keywords it’s time to create content to drive users to your website.
Google grades your content according to different On Page SEO factors such as inner linking, anchor text, header tags, and how you present your content. If you don’t do this correctly, or the way you present this text drives users away, you won’t rank very well.
I’ll help you raise the quality of your On Page SEO to prevent users from leaving your website and improve your organic rankings.

Off-Page SEO
Off-Page SEO is essentially how other websites perceive your content, which ones link to you, and how many of them link to you. Depending on the types of backlinks determines the expertise, authority, and trustworthiness Google will assign you. If you have too many bad, spammy websites linking to you then you’ll be assigned a high toxicity score. It’s important to monitor your backlinks if you’ve engaged in a backlink building campaign to ensure quality is a priority above all else.
Because Google is dynamic and constantly changing it’s important to regularly audit your website to ensure you’re staying ahead of these changes. Most of my clients stick to a quarterly schedule once we’ve diagnosed and fixed major issues.
